Rashmika Mandanna transforms into an anime character in a new promotional video shared by Crunchyroll to mark the Animal actress’s 28th birthday on Friday.

In the video shared on Saturday, Rashmika sports a blue sweater over a pink tube top paired with jeans and wears her hair down. She opens the door to her house and finds a basket on the doorstep. When she takes it inside, she finds a fluffy cat inside it. As she holds the cat up in the air out of sheer excitement, the actress and her surroundings transform into an anime, with the cat turning into a giant one reminiscent of scenes from the 2020 anime film A Whisker Away.

Rashmika’s anime avatar runs through crowded marketplaces and on rooftops to catch the cat who pays no heed to her. The actress’s character, voiced by a Japanese voice artist in the video, visits a ramen shop at night after getting tired of running here and there only to find the cat sitting beside her and offering her steaming hot dango dumplings.

Befriending her cat in the anime world, Rashmika is jolted back to the real world where she cannot stop gushing over the creature. But the cat makes a sharp call and runs away, making her wish she could live in the anime world forever.

“Do you ever wish your world was anime? @rashmika_mandanna and we certainly do,” the anime streaming platform wrote alongside the video.

Last year, Crunchyroll shared another anime avatar of Rashmika, turning her into a shinobi from the popular anime series Naruto. “Thank you @crunchyroll_in for turning me into a shinobi. Loveeeeeee the incredible gift,” the Pushpa actress wrote alongside a picture of her posing with a poster of her avatar.

At this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards held at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo on March 2, Rashmika presented the Best Art Direction trophy to the popular anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc.
