Rashmika Mandanna will be leading filmmaker Shantharuban’s debut Telugu film Rainbow, the actress has announced on Instagram alongside a set of pictures from the puja ceremony of the film.
"The story is something so amazing that I can't put it in words but can only bring alive for all of you onscreen," the 26-year-old wrote alongside the pictures.
The production house, Dream Warrior Pictures, also shared a video of the puja ceremony on Twitter.
"Thank you all for your blessings & support at the Pooja Ceremony of #Rainbow! It was a beautiful affair, made even more special by the presence of industry bigwigs. We can't wait to bring this film to life," their tweet read.
Rainbow is reportedly Rashmika's first women-centric film, shot from the girl's perspective. Dev Mohan plays an important role in the romantic fantasy surrounding the leading lady.
Rainbow was first signed by Samantha Ruth Prabhu in October 2021. However, Samantha backed out of the role owing to her health issues and made way for Rashmika.
The film, which will also be released in Tamil, starts shooting on April 7.
