Actress Rashmika Mandanna has been appointed the ambassador for the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), she said in an Instagram video on Tuesday.

In the video, Rashmika highlighted the various tactics used by cybercriminals to target different individuals. She recalled how a deepfake video of her was widely circulated on social media last year.

“We must not only stay alert and safe to protect ourselves from these incidents but also work to protect them,” said the actress in the video, raising her voice against cybercrimes.

“As a brand ambassador for I4C, I will continue to caution you all against cybercrimes,” added Rashmika, stressing the need to work in tandem to make the nation a safer place.

Rashmika also thanked the Indian government for the support it has offered her in her fight against cybercrimes.

In her caption, the actress pointed out the growing threat of online crimes. "We live in a digital era, and cybercrime is at an all-time high. Having personally experienced its effects, I believe it's time for stronger measures to secure our online world," she wrote.

“Let’s unite to build a safer cyberspace for ourselves and future generations. I want to bring awareness and protect as many of you as possible from cybercrimes so as I take on the role of brand ambassador for I4C,” Rashmika signed off, calling for proactive measures to battle the menace.

On the work front, the 28-year-old actress will soon be seen in Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule alongside Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil. She is also working on A.R. Murugadoss’ Sikandar, which will feature her opposite Salman Khan. Additionally, Rashmika has Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera in the pipeline.
