Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Atlee review Kalki 2898 AD, call it a ‘cinematic spectacle’

Released in theatres on June 27, the dystopian sci-fi film stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles

Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Atlee reviewed Nag Ashwin’s dystopian sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD on Tuesday, calling it a “cinematic spectacle” and “game changer”.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Ranveer ranked the Prabhas-starrer sci-fi epic alongside the very best of Indian cinema. “Kalki 2898 @kalki2898ad – a grand cinematic spectacle! That’s what big screen cinema is all about! An unprecedented level of finesse in technical execution. The very best in Indian cinema,” the Bollywood star wrote.

Ranveer also heaped praise on Prabhas and Kamal Haasan for their performances in the movie. “Rebel Star rocks! @actorprabhas Ulaganayagan is forever supreme! @ikamalhaasan,” he wrote.

Lauding Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Ashwatthama in the film, Ranveer said, “And if you are a die-hard Amitabh Bachchan fan like me..you just can’t miss this! @amitabhbachchan.”

The actor went on to cheer for his wife Deepika Padukone, who plays a pregnant woman in the movie. “As for my baby @deepikapadukone … You elevate every moment with your grace & dignity. Such poignancy, such poetry, such power. You are beyond compare. I love you,” he wrote.

Arjun also took to his Instagram Story to heap praise on the film. “Kalki - The game changer! What a cinematic vision from Nag Ashwin. I bow down to your visual take of this epic sweeping saga that spans generations...there is only 1 Amitabh Bachchan and he is awe-inspiring as Ashwatthama,” he wrote.

The actor, who is set to appear in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, gave a shout-out to Prabhas and his Finding Fanny co-star Deepika. “Prabhas Sir continues to be the loveable rebel that we have loved him always. Deepika Padukone just adds so much dignity and is the actual heart of it,” he said.

About Kamal Haasan and the several stars who appeared in cameo roles in the film, Arjun added, “Kamal Haasan Sir, can’t wait to see him in all his glory in part 2 (spoiler alert). To all the cameos, kudos to everyone for being team players and enjoying the ride.”

Signing off, the actor said, “Forget North, South, East, West this is a true Pan India film of epic proportions.”

Jawan director Atlee, on the other hand, said he was blown away by Nag Ashwin’s “incredible filmmaking” and Swapna Dutt’s “amazing production value”. “This film is truly stunning in every aspect. Prabhas sir, your performance was amazing! Deepika Padukone ma’am, I am your biggest fan, your work was so good! Amitabh Bachchan sir, you were at a god level in this film! Mass!… Kudos to the entire team. VFX (fire emoticons) Best entertainment with great visual treat is Kalki,” he wrote in his review of the film.

Released in theatres on June 27, Kalki 2898 AD also stars Saswata Chatterjee, Disha Patani, Brahmanandam and Shobhana.
