Rani Mukerji-starrer legal drama film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway fetches the highest-ever weekend collection in Norway for a Bollywood film, with 745k Norwegian Krones and 4.8k occupancy over a three-day weekend.
Amongst previous best, Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees had 4.7k occupancy, while Salman Khan-led Sultan had 4.4k occupancy over a five-day weekend. Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway also managed to surpass the collections of the recent Bollywood blockbuster, Pathaan, which had 4.1k occupancy on a five-day weekend.
The Ashima Chibber directorial is based on the story of a real-life immigrant mother’s battle against the Norwegian law-enforcing authorities to gain custody of her children. The film has been receiving immense love from around the globe for its heartrending storyline and epic depiction.
Produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway features Neena Gupta, Barun Chanda and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. The film also marks the Hindi film debut of the Bengali actor Anirban Bhattacharya.
“This is a story of the might and fight of a mother. I am heartened to say the least that the movie has been receiving so much love. We will continue making movies that inspire and move audiences,” said filmmaker-producer Nikkhil Advani, the head of Emmay Entertainment.
“There is a different magic that true stories bring in. Inspiration is sought at the most intrinsic level, which connects with the heart of the audience,” added Zee Studios CEO Shariq Patel.
Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is the first Indian film to be shot in Estonia. Zee Studios on Tuesday shared a video of the film’s special premiere with the cast and crew in Estonia. The Estonian actresses shared their experience of working on the film.
Released on March 17, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway garnered mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences.
