Just at the time when Ranbir Kapoor’s fans were bracing for Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’s release on September 9, Shamshera’s first look was leaked on social media over the weekend and went viral. On Monday, Yash Raj Films officially dropped the poster on social media and announced that the film will be released in IMAX on July 22 in three languages – Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Ranbir’s spouse and Brahmastra co-star Alia Bhatt took to Instagram and described Ranbir’s look in the poster as “hot”. “Now that’s a hot morning..I mean..good morning," read her post.

Directed by Agneepath fame Karan Malhotra, Shamshera will be Ranbir’s return to cinemas after his last outing Sanju, directed by Rajkumar Hirani in 2018. Shamshera also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. On the poster, Ranbir is seen as a warrior, donning a rugged look with long hair and a beard.

The film is supposedly a period-action drama and is about a dacoit tribe that fights for their rights. The poster gives a sneak peek at Ranbir’s character: ‘Karam se dacait...dharam se azaad’. It would be interesting to watch him with a never-seen-before look. Rumour has it that he has a double role in the film. We need to wait for the film’s release for the reveal.

Ranbir Kapoor fans seem to be spoilt for choice with their favourite actor returning on screen with two back-to-back releases — Shamshera and Brahmastra.
