Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer romantic-comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (TJMM) minted Rs 33 crore nett on its first weekend at the box office, taking the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 70 crore nett, as per trade reports.
The Luv Ranjan-directed film, which released on Holi, earned Rs 15.73 crore nett in India on its opening day. This was followed by a collection of Rs 10.3 crore nett on Thursday and Rs 10.5 crore nett on Friday.
The box office collection of the movie saw a jump on Saturday as it earned Rs 16 crore nett. The film added another Rs 17.08 crore nett to its kitty on Sunday, taking the total collection to Rs 70.24 crore nett.
TJMM marks the first on-screen pairing of Ranbir and Shraddha. The film also marks Ranbir’s return to the romcom genre after a gap of almost a decade. The story of the film revolves around Mikki (Ranbir) and Tinni (Shraddha) who fall in love with each other during a trip to Spain. However, Mikki’s world turns upside-down when Tinni decides to end the relationship.
The film also stars Dimple Kapadia, Anubhav Singh Bassi and Monica Chaudhary in significant roles.
