Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (TJMM) earned Rs 4.89 crore nett on its ninth day at the theatres, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 92.93 crore, according to Box Office India figures.
The Luv Ranjan-directed romcom, which released on Holi, had the second-highest opening for a Hindi film in 2023, after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. The film earned Rs 15.73 crore nett in India on the opening day. It added Rs 10.3 crore nett and Rs 10.5 crore nett to its collection on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
TJMM added another Rs 33 crore nett to its kitty in its first weekend and raked in Rs 18.6 crore nett over the next three days (Monday-Wednesday). With an earning of Rs 4.8 crore nett on Thursday, the film’s total collection in the extended first week now inches close to the Rs 100-crore mark.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is expected to become the second Hindi film of 2023 to cross the Rs 100-crore mark in the second weekend.
However, the film faces stiff competition from the new releases this week — DC Studios’ Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Rani Mukerji-starrer Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway, Kapil Sharma’s Zwigato and Kiccha Sudeepa-starrer Kabzaa.
