Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently hit out at people fuelling the ongoing controversy about Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh’s sex scene featuring Bhagavad Gita in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
On Monday, the Kaun? director took to Twitter to take a dig at the viewers who have strongly reacted to the controversial sex scene featuring a Hindu religious text and are asking for its removal. “Irony is that an American nuclear scientist Oppenheimer read the BhagwadGeeta which I doubt even 0.0000001 % of Indians read,” he wrote.
Heaping praise on Nolan’s biographical thriller, Varma also wrote on the microblogging site that he felt reborn after watching the film.
In another tweet, the Company director wrote, “Nolan created a cinematic bomb to explode in the minds of all people in the world, not just filmmakers.”
Urging everyone to feast their eyes on Oppenheimer, the veteran director signed off with an ambiguous note on both life and cinema. “If you haven’t seen #Oppenheimer you haven’t seen neither LIFE nor CINEMA,” he wrote.
Based on the life and works of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the Christopher Nolan directorial also features an ensemble cast of Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh.
