Actor Ram Charan penned a heartwarming note for the RRR team after the song Naatu Naatu from S.S. Rajamouli’s period drama bagged an Oscar for best original song at the 95th Academy Awards on March 13.
Charan, who is the lead actor of RRR, posted the note on social media. “We have won!! We have won as Indian Cinema!! We won as a country!! The Oscar Award is coming home!” he wrote.
“RRR is and will always remain as the most special film of our lives and of Indian Cinema history. I can't thank everyone enough for manifesting the Oscar Award. It still feels like I am living in a dream. Thank you all for the unstoppable support and love,” the actor also wrote in his note.
Giving credit to the film’s director S.S. Rajamouli and the song’s composer M.M. Keeravani for their collaboration that brought the much-coveted award, the actor also thanked them for selecting him to dance to the song. “SS Rajamouli Garu and MM Keeravani Garu are the most precious gems of our Indian film industry. Thank you both for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this masterpiece,” the actor said.
Describing Naatu Naatu as an emotion across the globe, Charan went on to thank lyricist Chandrabose Garu, singers Rahul Sipliguni & Kaala Bhairava, and choreographer Prem Rakshith. for bringing together this emotion. “To my co-star Tarak- Thank you brother! I hope to dance with you and create records again. Thank you Alia Bhatt for being the sweetest co-star,” he mentioned.
“This award belongs to every Indian actor, technician and film goer. My heartfelt thanks to all the fans across the world for all the love and support. This is our country's win!" the note also said.
Jr NTR, who danced with Charan to the song in the movie, posted a picture of himself holding the Oscar trophy. “We did it,” he captioned the photo on Twitter.
The official Twitter handle of RRR dedicated the Oscar victory to their fans across the world. “We’re blessed that #RRRMovie is the first feature film to bring INDIA's first ever #Oscar in the Best Song Category with #NaatuNaatu! 💪🏻 No words can describe this surreal moment,” it wrote.
