Sequels to two of Amar Kaushik’s much-loved horror-comedy films — 2018’s Stree and 2022’s Bhediya — will be released in 2024 and 2025, respectively, the makers of the films announced at a Jio Studios event in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Stree stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee enacted a skit at the event to announce that Stree 2 will arrive in theatres on August 31, 2024.

Released on August 30, 2018, Stree went on to gross over Rs 180 crore at the worldwide box office. The film was produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films alongside Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.’s production house D2R Films. It was distributed by AA Films, Jio Studios and PHARS Film.

Later in the evening, actor Varun Dhawan unveiled the logo of Bhediya 2. The actor made a wolf howl to show his excitement for the upcoming Bhediya sequel, which will hit theatres in 2025. Bhediya also featured Kriti Sanon, Deepak Dobriyal, Abhishek Banerjee, Saurabh Shukla and Baharul Islam.

The actor took to Instagram to share the news on Thursday alongside an image and a video clip from Wednesday evening’s event. “Bhediya 2 - 2025 Excited and grateful to get one more opportunity to be back as BHEDIYA. My second with the maverick @amarkaushik, 3 rd with my friend and visionary #dineshvijan backed by the passionate @officialjiostudios & #jyotideshpande. My boys @sachinjigar and @nirenbhatt,” he wrote.

Both Stree 2 and Bhediya 2 are part of the same horror-comedy Universe created by producer Dinesh Vijan.
