Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Stree 2 has soared past the Rs 450-crore nett milestone in India at the end of its second week in theatres, as per trade figures.
The film also surpassed the lifetime India collections of the Hindi version of Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 434.6 crore nett), emerging as the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror comedy film had a stellar start, collecting Rs 64.8 crore nett on its first day (including paid previews). It minted Rs 307.8 crore nett in the first week.
As the second week rolled in, Stree 2 continued to perform strongly, earning Rs 19.30 crore nett on its second Friday, followed by Rs 74.55 crore nett in the second weekend. The momentum continued during the weekdays, as the film went on to rake in Rs 42.85 crore nett from Monday to Wednesday.
On Thursday, the film added another Rs 9.1 crore nett to its earnings, bringing the total domestic collection to Rs 453.60 crore nett at the end of two weeks.
A sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Stree and the fifth instalment in the Maddock Films’ supernatural comedy universe, Stree 2 follows Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends as they protect the town of Chanderi from a headless entity named Sarkata who preys on women. The ensemble cast of the film also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana.
