Rajkummar Rao-and-Shraddha Kapoor-starrer horror comedy Stree 2 crossed the Rs 300-crore mark at the Indian box office on the eighth day of its theatrical run on Thursday, as per trade figures.
The Amar Kaushik-directed film opened strong with Rs 9.4 crore nett from preview shows, followed by an impressive Rs 55.4 crore nett on its first day. The momentum held with Rs 35.3 crore nett on the second day, Rs 45.7 crore nett on the third, and a significant Rs 58.2 crore nett on Day 4.
The film's earnings received a boost on Monday, thanks to the Raksha Bandhan holiday, bringing in Rs 38.4 crore nett on day five. It continued with Rs 26.80 crore nett on Tuesday and Rs 20.40 crore nett on Wednesday.
By adding another Rs 18.20 crore nett on Thursday, the horror comedy's total domestic earnings at the end of its extended first week in theatres reached Rs 307.80 crore nett.
According to the producers of the film, Stree 2 has grossed Rs 428 crore worldwide so far.
Apart from Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Stree 2 features an ensemble cast that includes Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, with special appearances by Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan and Tamannaah Bhatia.
Meanwhile, the two other Hindi films — Khel Khel Mein headlined by Akshay Kumar and Vedaa starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh — that released on August 15 alongside Stree 2, failed to make a mark at the box office.
The Mudassar Aziz-helmed comedy film earned only Rs 19.3 crore nett in the extended Week 1, while Nikkhil Advani’s action drama raked in Rs 17.53 crore nett during the same period.
