Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer sports drama Mr. and Mrs. Mahi performed well at the domestic box office on its opening weekend, collecting Rs 17.12 crore nett in three days, according to makers Dharma Productions.

The Sharan Sharma-helmed sports drama began its box office journey on a decent note on Friday, collecting Rs 6.85 crore nett. Discounted ticket prices owing to Cinema Lovers Day boosted the film’s box-office performance.

However, there was a slight decline in collections on Saturday, with a 32 per cent dip in collection. The film amassed Rs 4.65 crore nett on Saturday, followed by Rs 5.62 crore nett on Sunday.

According to industry data-tracking portal Sacnilk, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi boasted a 22.24 per cent occupancy rate on Sunday in Hindi markets, peaking during evening screenings at 32.27 per cent. Notably, in the NCR region, the film commanded 764 screens, with an overall occupancy of 21.25 per cent, followed by Mumbai with 585 screenings and 22.25 per cent occupancy.

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor and Divya Khossla-starrer Savi, which also released on the same day as Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, has amassed Rs 5.31 crore nett in three days. The jailbreak thriller directed by Abhinay Deo opened with a collection of Rs 1.6 crore nett on Day 1, followed by Rs 1.8 crore nett on Saturday and Rs 1.9 crore nett on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi revolves around a married couple deeply passionate about cricket. Also starring Kumud Mishra, Zarina Wahab and Rajesh Sharma, the story follows Mahendra (Rajkummar) who coaches his wife Mahima (Janhvi) to become a professional cricket player.
