Jailer
The production of Jailer, starring superstar Rajinikanth, has begun. In his 169th feature project, the veteran actor dons an authoritarian look in the film’s first look poster released on Monday. Bhajarangi star Shiva Rajkumar is set to star alongside Rajinikanth as the antagonist.
Jailer’s writer and director Nelson Dilipkumar shared the movie’s poster on his social media handle, announcing that the film, backed by Sun Pictures, is now in production. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the film.
Jailer is expected to release in the first half of 2023.
Haddi
Zee Studios shared the first look of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his new avatar in Haddi. In the teaser for the crime drama, directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, Nawazuddin is almost unrecognisable in his shiny silver dress and red-lipped drag look. Describing the film as a “noir revenge drama”, the production house announced that the filming of the movie, scheduled to release in 2023, has begun.
After being seen in a villainous role in Heropanti 2, Nawazuddin may be taking on another dark role in the upcoming film.
Lou
Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming Anna Foerster-directed action thriller, Lou. The trailer of the film shows Lou, played by Oscar winner Allison Janney, trying to live out a quiet life in an attempt to forget her dark past. Her past seems to be in the past till the character played by Jurnee Smollett comes to Lou, begging for her help in finding her kidnapped daughter. What follows is a thrilling journey of two women who team up to form an unstoppable force driven by the goal of finding the abducted child. Intrusion actor Logan Marshall-Green appears to be the primary villain.
Secrets will be revealed and life-or-death situations will be encountered by Janney and Smollett in the film that will stream on Netflix on September 23.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return
The 2022 Star Wars spin-off web series Obi-Wan Kenobi joined the ranks of other spinoff shows from the franchise, like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Covering a part of the Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s time in hiding, the series was well received. Cashing in on the successful series, Disney has created a documentary, Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return, which deals with the production of the show starring Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. Disney released the trailer for the exclusive documentary that offers behind-the-scene glimpses. It will premiere on September 8 on Disney+ Hotstar as part of the Disney+ Day line-up.
Immature Season 2
Season 2 of the coming-of-age comedy web series, Immature, by The Viral Fever (TVF) will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from August 26. The trailer for Season 2 reveals the return of the same gang of friends from 2019’s Immature Season 1. Susu (Visshesh Tiwari) continues to deal with his colour blindness, Kabir (Chinmay Chandraunshuh) continues to establish himself as a ‘bad boy’ and Dhruv (Omkar Kulkarni) continues with the pursuits of his heart. This season will have the boys of Secret Heart High School facing the challenges that teenage years and Class 11 have to throw at them.
