Former cricketer Kapil Dev will play a cameo in the upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer Lal Salaam, the actor revealed in a social media post on Thursday.

“It is my honour and privilege working with the Legendary, most respected and wonderful human being Kapildevji., who made India proud winning for the first time ever..Cricket World Cup!!!” wrote Rajinikanth on Twitter after posting a picture with the former Indian cricket team skipper on the sets of the film.

Kapil Dev also shared a photo with the actor on his Instagram story later.

Directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the film will see the former play an important role in the film. Kapil Dev was spotted shooting a scene with actor Vishnu Vishal in Mumbai on Thursday for the movie.

The upcoming Indian Tamil-language film is a cricket-based drama where Vishnu will be seen essaying the role of a cricketer. A.R. Rahman will be scoring the music for the film, which is scheduled to release sometime this year.

Lal Salaam also stars Jeevitha Rajeshkar, who will be making her comeback on the silver screen after 33 years in the role of Rajinikanth’s sister.
