Ajay Devgn’s IRS officer Amay Patnaik is set to make a return to the big screen with Raid 2 on May 1, 2025, the actor announced on his official social media handle on Tuesday alongside a poster of the Raj Kumar Gupta directorial.
“IRS Amay Patnaik’s next mission begins from May 2025! Raid 2 is all set to release on 1st May 2025,” the actor wrote on Instagram.
Backed by Panorama Studios, actors Riteish Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor and Rajat Kapoor have joined the cast of the film.
During the 1980s, a fearless income tax officer Amay Patnaik conducts a daring raid on the mansion of Lucknow's most powerful man after receiving evidence against the latter, according to IMDb's official synopsis of Raid (2018).
The original film featured an ensemble cast, including Saurabh Shukla, Ileana D'Cruz, Amit Sial, Gayathri Iyer, Sheeba Chaddha, and Saanand Verma in pivotal roles. Raid is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
Like its previous part, the sequel also revolves around a raid carried out by officers from the Income Tax Department, who collaborate with intelligence agencies to uncover white-collar crimes.
On the work front, Ajay Devgn was recently seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.
The actor is also gearing up for his upcoming historical film Azaad, also starring Ajay’s nephew Aaman Devgan and Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani. The film is slated to hit theatres in January 2025.
