Rahul Bose returned to the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai after a five-year gap to watch the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals on Monday, the 56-year-old actor-director said on Instagram, sharing a selfie with his friend and fellow cricket enthusiast Atul Kasbekar.
“It’s been five years since I went to watch an IPL game at the Wankhede,” wrote Rahul in a nostalgic vein. Despite the jersey being new, the familiarity of the situation made him feel like he was putting on a much-beloved shirt from years past. “Although my jersey’s new, it felt like slipping on a much loved shirt after years. The same decibel level, the familiar responsiveness in the stands,” added the Dil Dhadakne Do actor.
Rahul went on to reminisce about the first time he had visited a stadium at the age of eight to watch Team India face off against West Indies. “I was walking into the stadium to watch India play the West Indies. You feel as if you are missing the most vital point of the match. You quicken your steps to match your racing heart,” noted the actor, recalling the general atmosphere of thrill and excitement.
In his post, Rahul thanked Atul for accompanying him to the game, adding that the latter is rather good at taking selfies. The photograph shows the duo sporting Mumbai Indians jerseys.
“Sport in a stadium. Incredibly special,” the actor signed off.
Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets in the match.
Rahul last appeared in the Tamil action thriller Iraivan (2023). Directed by I. Ahmed, the film also starred Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara, Narain and Vinoth Kishan.
