Radhika Merchant wore two custom bridal outfits that pay tribute to her Gujarati roots at her wedding with Anant Ambani on July 12. She donned an Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla lehenga choli for the marriage ceremony and changed into a Manish Malhotra lehenga ahead of her vidai ceremony. Here’s a look.
Radhika donned a red-and-white lehenga choli, in keeping with the age-old Panetar tradition, for her wedding with Anant Ambani. The ivory zardozi cut-work outfit featured a flowing ghagra with a detachable second trail.
The ghagra, adorned with three glittering red borders, featured naqshi, saadi and zardozi embroidery. Intricate floral motifs enhanced the ensemble, which was embellished with stones and sequins.
The entire outfit was accompanied by a five-metre-long head veil and an intricately embroidered dupatta. The delicate head veil came with regal zari borders, while the detachable trail was a zardozi marvel of 80 inches.
Radhika accessorised her outfit with family jewels worn by her grandmother, mum and sister during their weddings. Vibrant red lips and dramatic lashes rounded off her bridal look.
The Manish Malhotra-designed red lehenga that Radhika wore during her vidai featured a blouse with real gold karchobi embroidery. Radhika paired the blouse with a multi-panelled banarasi brocade skirt.
A striking red veil and a finely woven banarasi dupatta completed her ensemble, which paid tribute to the rich textile heritage of Kutch.
