R. Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan and Dia Mirza’s 2001 romance drama RHTDM to re-release in theatres

Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film marked Dia’s acting debut

R. Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan and Dia Mirza’s 2001 romantic drama Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein is set to be re-released for a week in PVR and Inox theatres across India on August 30, production house Pooja Entertainment announced on social media on Tuesday.

"23 years later, love finds its way back to the big screen. Relive the magic of timeless romance with #RehnaaHaiTerreDilMein. Re-Releasing in Cinemas THIS FRIDAY, 30th August 2024. Are you excited?" the makers wrote alongside a motion poster of the film on Instagram.

Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001) is a remake of the Tamil film Minnale, which was released the same year and featured Madhavan.

Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein also marked Dia Mirza’s acting debut. The storyline revolves around the love triangle between Madhav "Maddy" Shastri (Madhavan), Reena Malhotra (Dia) and Rajeev "Sam" Samra (Saif), a young man settled in the US and Maddy’s former college rival.

The film also features Tannaz Irani, Anupam Kher, Hemant Pandey and Jackky Bhagnani.

According to industry data-tracking site Sacnilk, the film originally earned Rs 8.23 crore nett at the domestic box office upon its release on October 19, 2001.

The re-release will run in theatres nationwide from August 30 to September 5.

On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will soon appear as the antagonist Bhaira in Koratala Siva’s upcoming action thriller Devara, which also stars Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor.

Madhavan, meanwhile, has teamed up with Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal for a new film helmed by Aditya Dhar.

Dia plays a reporter in Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which also stars Vijay Varma, Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapur. The series will hit the streamer on August 29.
