Lionsgate recently announced that it will be releasing a new and remastered 4K edition of Kill Bill to coincide with the Quentin Tarantino film’s 20th anniversary at the end of the year, according to US entertainment portal Deadline.

Lionsgate CEO announced on its quarterly earnings call that it has partnered with filmmaker Quentin Tarantino for distribution rights of three of the director’s iconic films — Kill Bill Volumes I, II and Jackie Brown, reports the portal.

The two Kill Bill films chronicle a pregnant assassin, code-named The Bride (Uma Thurman), who goes into a coma for four years after her ex-boss Bill (David Carradine) brutally attacks her on her wedding day. When she wakes up, she sets out to seek revenge on him.

Apart from the Kill Bill films, Lionsgate also has the rights to Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight and Death Proof.

Lionsgate’s quarterly earnings beat Wall Street’s projections thanks to the success of Keanu Reeves-starrer John Wick: Chapter 4. The company said it wanted to “drive the expansion of the John Wick Universe.” As part of that it has completed production on the Ana de Armas spinoff film Ballerina, which it will release in June of 2024.

It also is preparing to launch the prequel television event series The Continental on Peacock and Amazon.
