“I’m dressed as a flipping pineapple,” coos Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, leaving the cast and crew in stitches in the middle of a shoot, in a behind-the-scenes video featuring bloopers from Bridgerton’s second season.
Dropped by the makers on Monday, the video also features Jonathon Bailey as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, Simone Ashley as Kate, Charithra Chandran as Edwina, Claudia Jessie as Eloise, Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton and Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte from the popular Netflix show ahead of the release of its Season 3, which will debut on the streamer in two instalments — Part 1 on May 16 and Part 2 on June 13.
Opening with Kate trying to help Anthony stand up, the video goes on to show Kate holding the clapboard, Eloise bursting into laughter and Benedict and Gregory chuckling. Anthony and Eloise engage in amusing arm gestures, while the Featherington sisters appear engrossed in their own conversation.
The video also captures Anthony and Benedict sharing jokes even as they get involved in a joust, while Queen Charlotte's attention is diverted by her dog. We get to see Anthony and Kate’s comical dance routine, followed by scenes of Lady Danbury's boisterous laughter reverberating through the dance hall and Eloise making loud noises as she slurps her tea.
At the end of the video, Queen Charlotte maintains a stoic expression when she completely fluffs her lines. “It's all giddy giddy joy joy joy,” she deadpans, making everybody present on the set erupt in boisterous laughter.
“Surely anniversaries are worthy of fanfare and jubilee. Do join us in celebrating this thrilling occasion,” the makers wrote in the caption to the video, which was released to celebrate the second anniversary of the second season of the Regency era drama.
The makers also shared a new promo for the upcoming third instalment of the period drama based on the eponymous eight-book series by Julia Quinn. In the video, Kate and Anthony are seen romancing each other as their crackling chemistry sets the stage for a post-marriage love story.
The third season will revolve around Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) as the childhood friends finally navigate their way to love.
