Hit horror movies like The Conjuring, Don’t Breathe, Munjya and Stree will be screened at PVR-Inox theatres from October 23 to 31 to mark the Halloween season, the multiplex chain announced recently.
“Scare season is here! 🎃 Lock in your seats for the Halloween Film Festival from Oct 23-31 at PVR INOX – advance bookings are now open,” PVR Cinemas wrote on Instagram, inviting moviegoers to watch the films in the theatre.
The Conjuring franchise revolves around real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they confront various cases of supernatural phenomena and demonic hauntings. The core films follow their encounters with malevolent spirits, starting with The Conjuring (2013), where they help the Perron family and The Conjuring 2 (2016), where they investigate the Enfield poltergeist in England.
In The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, which came out in 2021, the Lorraine couple confronted a case of demonic possession linked to a murder trial. The Halloween Film Festival will bring back all the three instalments of Conjuring on the big screen.
In Don't Breathe, a group of young thieves break into the house of a blind man, expecting an easy heist. However, they soon find themselves trapped and fighting for their lives as the man turns out to be far more dangerous than they anticipated.
Munjya marks the fourth instalment in the horror comedy series by Maddock Films after Stree (2018), Roohi (2021) and Bhediya (2022). The film revolves around a young man named Bittu (Abhay Verma) who encounters the vengeful spirit of Munjya, a child who died tragically after attempting a forbidden love ritual. Touted as “a perfect blend of comedy and horror for Gen Z audiences”, the Aditya Sarpotdar directorial also stars Sharvari Wagh.
Bhediya, which came out in 2022, is centred on a man named Bhaskar, played by Varun Dhawan, who gets bitten by a wolf and begins transforming into a werewolf during the full moon. As he struggles to control his newfound powers, Bhaskar embarks on a journey to unravel the origins of his curse while protecting his loved ones from the unforeseen dangers.
In Stree, a small town is haunted by a malevolent spirit that abducts men at night during the festive season, leaving only their clothes behind. A group of friends, led by Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), ventures out at night to unravel the mystery of the spirit and find a way to stop her before she murders more men.
