PVR Cinemas to organise Pride Film Festival from June 21 to 26

Multiplex chain PVR Cinemas is set to host a Pride Film Festival this week, celebrating the vibrant and diverse stories of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The festival will run from June 21 to 26 across select PVR locations.

The Pride Film Festival aims to celebrate the ongoing Pride Month and showcase films that celebrate love in all its beautiful forms.

“Celebrate Pride with a special showcase of heartwarming films that celebrate love in all its beautiful forms: Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui & Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of emotions, laughter, tears, and everything in between! Tickets starting at just 99! Don't miss this chance to experience these gems on the big screen once again with the Pride Film Festival,” the official handle of PVR Cinemas wrote on Instagram.

Among the featured films are Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021) and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020). The tickets for these screenings have been priced at Rs 99.

Helmed by Abhishek Kapoor, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is a romantic drama that revolves around a gym owner (Ayushmann) who falls in love with a trans woman (Vaani Kapoor).

Hitesh Kewalya’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, on the other hand, revolves around two men in love (played by Ayushmann and Jitendra Kumar) who fight for acceptance from their families.

Moreover, PVR Cinemas is going to organise a special screening of Onir’s 2005 film My Brother... Nikhil on June 21 at Priya, Basant Lok, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi at 6pm. The tickets for this show have been priced at Rs 150.

“Celebrate Pride with a special showcase of My Brother... Nikhil! Join us on June 21 at 6 PM for a heartfelt movie, followed by an exclusive Q&A with director Onir. Tickets start at just 150! Don’t miss out on this special event. ,” the cinema chain wrote on Instagram.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the director. Headlined by Sanjay Suri, Purab Kohli and Juhi Chawla, the relationship drama film is inspired by the life of Indian AIDS activist Dominic d'Souza.
