Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2 trailer, dropped on Sunday, offers a glimpse at actress Sreeleela’s much-talked-about dance number Kissik, which is yet to be released by the makers.
Currently trending at No. 1 on YouTube with over 30 million views in less than 24 hours, the two-minute-48-second-long trailer promises a showdown between Allu’s Pushpa Raj and Fahadh Faasil’s SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. But Pushpa has expanded his sandalwood smuggling syndicate over the years, and is now operating at a global level.
Sreeleela, popular as ‘dancing queen’ among fans, appears in the trailer for a brief period. Clad in a black lehenga, Sreeleela sets the dance floor ablaze with her electrifying steps.
Kissik was announced by the makers earlier this month. Sharing a poster of the song on X, they wrote, “Team #Pushpa2TheRule welcomes The Dancing Queen @sreeleela14 on board for the #Kissik Song of the Year. This song is going to be a dance feast and a musical delight. Grand release worldwide on 5th December, 2024.”
Set to a pulsating score, the trailer offers a larger-than-life image of the protagonist as Allu recreates his iconic chin-rub pose and enters spectacular settings followed by a horde of supporters.
The trailer further hints at Pushpa’s sizzling chemistry with Rashmika Mandanna’s Srivalli. The epic showdown between Pushpa and SP Shekhawat features gravity-defying stunts by both actors. Vehicles overturn, explosions reverberate and a barrage of bullets is unleashed in a series of high-octane action scenes.
Pushpa appears dressed in a sari for the Sammakka Saralamma Jaathara, a festival celebrated in Telangana to honour tribal goddesses. The video ends with Allu’s resounding claim that his reach breaches the national barriers, making his reign international.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 is the sequel to Allu’s 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise, which became a massive box-office success across India.
Pushpa: The Rise starred Allu as Pushpa Raj, a lorry driver rising through the ranks of a red sandalwood smuggling syndicate. Rashmika played Pushpa’s beloved, Srivalli, a milk seller whom he married towards the end of the film. Released on December 17, 2021, the film grossed approximately Rs 350 crore worldwide, thereby emerging as the highest-grossing Indian film that year.
The music for Pushpa 2: The Rule has been scored by Devi Sri Prasad, while Miroslaw Kuba Brozek has handled the cinematography.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is slated to hit theatres on December 5.
