Last week was a busy time for all the film industries of South India. The first-look teasers and trailers of biggies such as Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part I (PS-I) and Chiranjeevi’s God Father created waves alongside mega projects like Nivin Pauly’s time-travel film Mahaveeryar, Sai Pallavi’s courtroom drama Gargi and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s Bimbisara. The Akdi Pakdi song featuring Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday from Liger was the other highlight.

Pa Ranjith’s Natchathiram Nagargiradhu first look (Tamil)

Filmmaker Pa Ranjith released the poster of his next film Natchathiram Nagargiradhu with the caption ‘Love is Political!’. Billed as a romantic drama, the film stars Kalidas Jayaram and Dushara Vijayan in the lead roles. The first look poster is an artistic representation of the film and its cast.

The cast includes Kalaiarasan, Hari Krishnan, Subatra Robert and Shabeer Kallarakkal. The film has been produced by Vignesh Sundaresan, Manoj Leonel Jahson, and Pa Ranjith under their banner Neelam Productions and Yaazhi Films.

Fahadh Faasil’s Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum to release in December (Malayalam)

Pachuvum Athbhuthavilakkum, starring Fahadh Faasil, marks the directorial debut of Akhil Sathyan, who is the twin brother of Anoop Sathyan of Varane Avashyamund fame and the son of prominent Malayalam director Sathyan Anthikad. Akhil is scripting, directing and editing the film that will hit the screens this December.

The film also features Siddique, Vineeth and Vijayaraghavan. Sharan Velayudhan is the director of photography and Justin Prabhakaran is the music composer. It is produced by Sethu Manarkad under the banner Full Moon Cinema.

Sree Vishnu’s Alluri teaser (Telugu)

The teaser of Alluri, starring Sree Vishnu of Mental Madhilo fame, shows him as a sub-inspector. Directed by Pradeep Varma and produced by Bekkem Venu Gopal, the film is touted to be a fictional biography of a policeman.

Alluri also stars Kayadu Lohar, Tanikella Bharani, Suman, Raja Ravindra, Prudhvi Raj, Ravi Varma, Madhusudhan Rao Reddy and Jaya Vani. Harshavardhan Rameshwar has scored the music. The cinematography is by Raj Thota and editing by Dharmendra Kakarala.

Lankasura teaser traces the story of an underworld don (Kannada)

The teaser of Kannada star Vinod Prabhakar’s upcoming film Lankasura has the actor playing a don. The film also marks Vinod’s first production venture. The teaser exploring the story of a gangster is packed with action sequences and punch dialogues.

Directed by Pramod Kumar D S, the film also stars Yogi in pivotal roles. The music has been scored by Vijeth Krishna.
