Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set for a comeback with Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 (PS-1), slated to release worldwide on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
A first-look poster shows a bejewelled Aishwarya resplendent in a sari, flowing hair and her dreamy eyes.
She will play queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, who is on a mission to seek vengeance, as well as Mandakini Devi in the historical drama.
Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1995 novel of the same name, the film revolves around the early life of prince Arulmozhi Varman, who later becomes Raja Chozhan.
Billed as one of the most expensive films made in India, PS-1 also stars Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, Parthiban and Prakash Raj. AR Rahman has scored the background music of the film.
Last seen in the 2018 family drama Fanney Khan with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Aishwarya will be seen on screen after a hiatus of four years.
