Netflix on Friday dropped a first-look picture of The Thursday Murder Club cast — Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie — from the set, announcing that production for the crime comedy film has begun.
Richard Osman, who has penned the book this movie is based on, also features in the photo the streamer shared.
“Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie star in The Thursday Murder Club. Now in production. Based on Richard Osman’s bestselling novel and directed by Chris Columbus,” Netflix captioned the photo on X.
The Thursday Murder Club, the first in Osman’s crime series released in 2020, follows four retirees at the Coopers Chase Retirement Village in Kent as they investigate the murder of a property developer.
Celia Imrie, known for her role in Bridget Jones, will portray Joyce, a former nurse. Mirren takes on the role of former spy Elizabeth, with Brosnan playing ex-trade union official Ron, and Kingsley as psychiatrist Ibrahim.
Additional cast members include David Tennant, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce, Richard E. Grant, Danny Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Sarah Niles.
The release date for The Thursday Murder Club is yet to be announced.
