A Bvlgari necklace that Priyanka Chopra wore at the MET Gala event in New York recently had a Laguna Blu Diamond worth Rs 204 crore embedded on it, according to Sotheby’s, a company that will auction the diamond at a starting bid of USD 25 million.
The 11.16 carat vivid blue diamond, which will be auctioned at Sotheby’s “Luxury Week” in Geneva, is a rare sighting that made its debut set in a Greco-Roman laurel wreath-inspired necklace on the MET Gala carpet on May 2 (IST).
“The Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond has remained in the same collection ever since its acquisition in 1970s. Heading to Luxury Week at #SothebysGeneva this month and estimated over $25 million, the diamond is set to become the most valuable Bulgari gem ever sold,” Sotheby’s wrote on Instagram alongside photos of Priyanka donning the necklace.
Initially mounted on a ring, the Bulgari Laguna Blu is part of a wider collection which includes two other white diamonds by Bvlgari from the same early 1970s period.
The jewellery brand took to Instagram on Wednesday to share videos of their brand ambassador, Priyanka wearing the necklace designed for her with the blue diamond set in the middle.
Sotheby’s “Luxury Week” will be held at the Mandarin Oriental in Geneva from May 12 to May 16.
