Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Friday reminisced about her stage performances during her early days in Bollywood, recalling how she enjoyed dancing to songs from her films at award shows in early 2000s.
“When I first started working in the movies in Mumbai, I truly did not know how much of a love affair I would have with the stage and especially dancing on it. When I was in school, I was always doing extra curriculars on stage, but there was something that just hits different when I’m performing on songs from my movies sung by the most incredible singers in India and being able to deliver entertainment to a live audience. It is intoxicating,” Priyanka wrote on Instagram, sharing a video featuring her stage performances from the past.
The video she shared shows her dancing to hit songs like Khudaya Khair (2009), Mar Jawaan (2008), Desi Girl (2008), and Laal Dupatta (2004).
“It’s the closest I’ve felt to doing what my husband does every day,” added the Baywatch actress in a nod to her musician husband Nick Jonas who often performs at live concerts.
Priyanka shared that looking back at the old videos made her nostalgic about the numerous rehearsals and the guidance she had received from talented choreographers and dancers. "I can’t help but get nostalgic about how the young me would go for multiple rehearsals over days, lean on the incredible choreographers and dancers who sculpted me into becoming more and more confident on stage and on set," wrote the 42-year-old.
Priyanka said she was proud of her younger self for her ceaseless hard work and dedication. "I’m proud of her and grateful for her dedication and hustle. Take the time to be proud of your younger self. You are you today because of your tenacity yesterday," the Citadel actress signed off.
Priyanka’s husband Nick Jonas reacted to the video. “Baby I’m your biggest fan forever and always,” read his comment on Priyanka’s post.
Priyanka is currently filming for her upcoming action movie The Bluff in Australia. On Thursday, the actress shared a string of pictures, providing a glimpse into her day on set and at home.
Sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the set of the Frank Ewen Flowers directorial, Priyanka wrote, “Partial padding for stunts. Takes forever to get into costume.”
The carousel also contains a picture of Priyanka’s two-year-old daughter Malti Marie Jonas making rotis. Another picture shows the actress’s mother Madhu Chopra cooking food for her.
Priyanka and Nick tied the knot in December 2018 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The couple welcomed their daughter Malti in January 2022.
The Bluff marks Priyanka’s second collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and AGBO after the spy action series Citadel, which also stars Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville. The show has been renewed for a second season.
Priyanka will also star in Ilya Naishuller’s Heads of State alongside Idris Elba, John Cena, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root and Carla Gugino. The Baywatch actress has recently joined the team of Barry Avrich’s upcoming documentary Born Hungry as a producer.
