Actress Priyanka Chopra on Tuesday called Stree 2 song Aaj Ki Raat a “banger” and heaped praise on Tamannaah Bhatia, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao for their performances in the film.
“This banger tho @tamannaahspeaks you’re too good! @shraddhakapoor always a queen! @rajkummarrao gold,” the 42-year-old actress wrote alongside a snippet of the chorus of the song on her Instagram story.
Sung by Madhubanti Bagchi, Divya Kumar and Sachin-Jigar, Aaj Ki Raat is composed by Sachin-Jigar and written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Its music video showcases Tamannaah’s electrifying dance moves to qawwali beats to impress the people of Chanderi. It also features a cameo by the film’s director, Amar Kaushik.
Stree 2, the sequel to the 2018 horror comedy, continues the story based on a folk legend in a small town where an evil spirit named Stree abducts men at night during the festive season.
The sequel reunites the original cast including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana, while Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar appeared in cameo roles.
Released on August 15, Stree 2 grossed Rs 777 crore at the box office, emerging as the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 and the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. Its success led Shraddha Kapoor to become the second most-followed Indian on Instagram after cricketer Virat Kohli, trumping Priyanka Chopra and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the work front, Priyanka has wrapped up shooting for her upcoming action film The Bluff helmed by Frank Ewen Flowers. This project marks her second collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and AGBO, following the spy action series Citadel, which has already been renewed for a second season. Priyanka is also set to star in Ilya Naishuller’s Heads of State alongside Idris Elba, John Cena, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root and Carla Gugino.
