Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Lucifer sequel L2: Empuraan ‘gaining momentum’, says producer Antony Perumbavoor

The 2019 Mohanlal-starrer was a blockbuster hit with a collection of Rs 200 crore at the box office

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s third directorial venture L2: Empuraan, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster hit Lucifer, is “gaining momentum”, film producer Antony Perumbavoor has said in a Twitter post.

"#L2E EMPURAAN gaining momentum," Antony wrote on the microblogging site alongside a video which showed glimpses of Prithviraj explaining shots and sitting in meetings with the rest of the crew members.

Prithviraj had previously shared a photo of him in London on April 14 for a location scout during the festival of Vishu.

According to reports, the shooting for the film is likely to begin in August this year.

The sequel to the political-action thriller will star Mohanlal in the lead role alongside Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith Sukumaran.

Lucifer had gone on to become one of the biggest successes in Malayalam film history by grossing Rs 200 crores at the box office. The film was later remade in Telugu, with the title Godfather. The Telugu version starred Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, and Salman Khan.
