Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life earns Rs 150 crore globally

The survival drama directed by Blessy features Amala Paul, KR Gokul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Talib al Balushi and RikAby in key roles

Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, has crossed the Rs 150-crore mark at the worldwide box office, the actor announced on Sunday. The survival drama helmed by Blessy had released in theatres on March 28.

Prithviraj shared the film’s latest box office figures on social media. “#TheGoatLife is conquering new heights! Making waves across the world. Grateful for your unwavering love and support!” he wrote.

Adapted from Benyamin's 2008 novel of the same name, The Goat Life recounts the true story of Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant labourer who finds himself enslaved as a goatherd in the Middle East. The film’s ensemble cast includes Amala Paul, KR Gokul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Talib al Balushi and RikAby.

The Goat Life’s success comes at a time when Bollywood films are facing a drought at the box office. Last week’s releases, Do Aur Do Pyaar and Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2, are yet to pick up at the box office. The romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar, starring Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi, minted Rs 2.6 crore nett in three days, while Dibakar Banerjee’s film on relationships in the digital age raked in Rs 0.8 crore nett.

Meanwhile, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff and which released in theatres on April 11, has collected only Rs 4.25 crore nett over the weekend, taking its 11-day collections in India to Rs 55.5 crore nett.

Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan, which released on the same day as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, added Rs 5.9 crore to its earnings over the weekend, taking the total collection of the sports drama to Rs 35.7 crore nett.
