Preity Zinta wraps shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s period drama Lahore 1947: ‘Toughest film I have worked on’

Also featuring Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi, the upcoming film is backed by Aamir Khan Productions

Actress Preity Zinta has completed shooting for her upcoming film Lahore 1947 starring Sunny Deol, the actress announced on Instagram on Sunday.

“It’s a wrap on Lahore 1947 & I couldn’t be more grateful to the entire cast n crew for such an incredible experience I sincerely hope all of you appreciate & enjoy this film as much as we did making it. It’s definitely the toughest film I have worked on,” the 49-year-old actress, who is making a comeback to the big screen after several years, wrote alongside a video with glimpses from the shoot.

Preity went on to thank the entire cast and crew for their hard work and dedication. “Full marks to everyone for all their hard work & patience during the last couple of months. Thank you Raj ji, Aamir, Sunny, Shabanaji , Santosh Sivan & AR Rahman from the bottom of my heart. Loads of love always ,” she further wrote.

Based on the acclaimed Punjabi play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai by Asghar Wajahat, the Rajkumar Santoshi-directed period drama marks Sunny and Preity’s reunion after almost six years. They have shared screen space in films like Dillagi (1999), The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003), Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke (2001), Farz (2001) and Heroes (2008).

Preity was last seen in the 2018 action-comedy Bhaiaji Superhit alongside Sunny. Sunny, on the other hand, last starred in Gadar 2, and has films Baap and Soorya in the pipeline apart from Lahore 1947.

Preity recently made an appearance at the 77th Cannes Film Festival to present the Pierre Angenieux Award to Indian cinematographer Santosh Sivan, who had shot her 1998 film Dil Se, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan. They are collaborating for the second time for Lahore 1947.

The Kal Ho Naa Ho actress has been actively sharing behind-the-scenes pictures from the sets of the film. Recently, she dropped a set of pictures featuring Santoshi.

While A.R. Rahman has served as the Lahore 1947’s music composer, Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics for the songs.

Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film is yet to get a release date.
