Actress Preity Zinta on Friday penned a note reflecting on the only antagonist role she played in her 26-year-long Bollywood career, paying tribute to her character Sonia Sinha in the Honey Irani-helmed 2003 medical drama Armaan.
“My character Sonia was an emotional bag of contradictions. Happy n sad the same minute, deeply Insecure and very low in confidence. She lived in her own world yet destroyed everyone else’s world. She had a good heart but was too lost & too insecure to even consider listening to it,” wrote the actress on Instagram.
Alongside her note, Preity also shared a clip featuring Gracy Singh (Dr Neha Mathur) and Anil Kapoor (Dr Akash Sinha), shedding light on Sonia’s manipulative nature and her deep-seated insecurities. Sonia suspects that her husband Akash is having an affair with his colleague Neha and comes up with ways to create a rift between them.
In her note, Preity goes on to thank Honey Irani for giving her the opportunity to play such a complex character. “Here’s to my one n only villainous role A big thank you to Honey Irani for trusting me with this role & for giving me wings to fly. More power to you Thank you to the entire cast n crew for all the support & for all the madness,” reads Preity’s caption.
The actress also expressed her wish to do more such films in future. “I wish I can do more crazy roles like this now that I’m back to work,” she mentioned.
Preity was last seen alongside Vir Das in an episode of the American sitcom Fresh Off the Boat titled The Magic Motor Inn in 2020.
