Prabhas’s Deva turns into a one-man army, hacking and chopping goons with swords, to help his childhood friend Vardharaja (Prithviraj Sukumaran) reclaim the throne of Khansaar amid political conspiracies in the trailer of Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, dropped by K.G.F makers Hombale Films on Friday.

The three-minute-46-second-long trailer begins with a young Deva holding Vardharaja’s hand and dragging him through a street crowd. Soon, it cuts to an intense scene where Deva makes a promise to Vardharaja to always be there for him. This is followed by a flashback to the beginning of the unrest prevailing in their city, Khansaar. It takes us back 1,000 years back when Khansaar was invaded by goons “more dangerous than Mahmud of Ghazni and Genghis Khan”. The trailer also offers a glimpse of the plight of the commoners and their survival in the face of political turmoil.

After Vardharaja’s father declares that he will make his son the next king, two conspirators hatch a plan to kill the latter. Thus begins a gruesome battle in the city, as Vardharaja wields a rifle and slaughters people mercilessly.

Once the Russian and the Serbian armies enter the city, Vardharaja goes back to Deva and asks him to keep his childhood promise. Deva becomes his one-man army in his fight against the fully-fledged battalion. As he goes on the rampage and butchers people on his way, Deva reminds us of the Yash-starrer K.G.F. Prabhas’s role in Salaar will take a completely different route from his last film Adipurush in which he played the calm and composed Raghava.

Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu also appear in the trailer. As Deva and Vardharaja team up and join forces for their war, it reminds us of SS Rajamouli’s two-hero film RRR from last year.

Helmed by KGF director Prashanth Neel, the film marks the Telugu debut of Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran. Also starring Eshwari Rao and Sriya Reddy, Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire will arrive in theatres on December 22 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
