Prabhas-starrer Salaar maintained its lead over Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, earning twice as much as the latter on Tuesday, even after a significant drop in the daily box office collection of both the films, trade records highlighted on Wednesday.
Salaar: Part 1 — Ceasefire, directed by Prashanth Neel and bankrolled by Hombale Films, experienced a 45.72 per cent drop in collection on its fifth day. After an impressive Rs 46.3 crore nett collection on Day 4, the film garnered Rs 25.13 crore nett on Tuesday, bringing its total India box office earnings to a staggering Rs 278.90 crore nett as of Day 5.
On the other hand, Dunki, which marks the first-ever collaboration between Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh, faced a considerable setback with nearly a 60 per cent drop in its India box office collections on Tuesday. The film, focusing on the concept of 'donkey flight' or 'dunki,' managed to accumulate around Rs 10.25 crore nett on Day 6, taking its total collection so far to Rs 140.20 crore nett.
Alongside Shah Rukh, the dramedy features Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Anil Grover, and Vikram Kochhar in pivotal roles. The film revolves around the illegal immigration technique called donkey flights.
Salaar, which explores the transformation of two friends into arch-enemies, boasts a stellar cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu, Shruti Haasan, Tinnu Anand, Sriya Reddy, and Easwari Rao. The film hit theaters worldwide on December 22, a day after Dunki.
