Prabhas’ Salaar breaches Rs 500-crore mark at global box office, stays far ahead of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki

The Prashanth Neel-helmed actioner has earned Rs 309 crore nett in India, while Rajkumar Hirani’s comedy drama has minted Rs 161 crore nett

Prabhas-starrer Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire crossed the Rs 500-crore mark globally, leaving behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki that has collected over Rs 300 crore in its second week in theatres across the world.

Directed by Prashanth Neel, Salaar has been setting the cash registers ringing since its grand release on December 22. The film garnered a staggering Rs 90.70 crore nett on its opening day, maintaining its momentum with Rs 56.35 crore nett on Day 2, Rs 62.05 crore on the Day 3, Rs 46.30 crore on Day 4, Rs 24.90 crore on Day 5 and Rs 15.10 crore on Day 6.

On Thursday, its seventh day in theatres, Salaar added around Rs 13.90 crore to its impressive haul, bringing the total domestic box office collection to Rs 309 crore. The worldwide gross box office collection for the actioner now stands at Rs 521 crore.

On the other hand, Rajkumar Hirani-helmed Dunki has been on a rollercoaster ride at the box office. The film opened with a robust Rs 29.2 crore nett on its first day, followed by a dip on Friday (Rs 20.12 crore nett), only to rebound with a peak collection of Rs 56.31 crore nett over the weekend. The collections on weekdays saw further dip (Rs 46 crore nett from Monday to Wednesday), with the lowest collection of an estimated Rs 9 crore nett on Thursday, the eighth day.

Dunki has managed to accumulate a substantial Rs 161.01 crore nett in India so far. With a worldwide collection of Rs 305 crore gross after seven days, Dunki has already secured its position among the top 10 highest-grossing Indian movies of 2023, surpassing the collection of Adah Sharma-starrer The Kerala Story (Rs 302 crore).
