Director Indira Dhar Mukkherjee’s film Swadeshini Bideshini sees the director delve into the comedy genre with an out-and-out Bengali comedy film made for a family watch. On April 6, in the presence of guests Jaya Seal Ghosh and Mumtaz Sorcar, the cast and crew unveiled the official poster of the film at the Lord of the Drinks. The storyline, revolving around a tale of friendship, captures the Bengali culture.

“Swadeshini Bideshini is a very special film. The experience was fantastic. I finally made a Bengali film... and I always wanted to make it as I am a Bengali first. After making several Hindi films, I wanted to make a film which will make Bengalis laugh and be proud of their city. It is a tribute to Calcutta and our Bengali community. It is a family drama. The team was fantastic. I am a very content-oriented filmmaker and don’t believe in star value that much because now content is evolving. If the content is good, people will watch it,” said Indira.
