Ponniyin Selvan 2, Mem Famous, Veeram, Kolaambi: New trailers, teasers and posters from South

Here’s a quick recap of the week that was for the Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries

Following the trailer release of Gautham Karthik’s 16th August, 1947 and Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Viay Deverakond’s Kushi release date announcement, the makers of several other upcoming movies from the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam film industries dropped new trailers and teasers last week. Here’s a look.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 (Tamil)

Madras Talkies unveiled a new poster of Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film Ponniyain Selvan 2 and also announced that the trailer will arrive on March 29. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s iconic novel of the same name, the film stars Vikram Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Jayam Ravi in the lead roles.

“Fire in their eyes. Love in their hearts. Blood on their swords. The Cholas will be back to fight for the throne! #PS2TrailerFromMarch29,” the production house wrote alongside the poster.

Mem Famous (Telugu)

Lahiri Music dropped the official teaser for the upcoming Telugu-language film Mem Famous. Directed by Sumanth Prabhas, the film stars Sumanth, Mani Aegurla, Mourya Chowdary, Saarya, Siri Raasi, Kiran Macha, Anji Mama, Narendra Ravi, Muralidhar Goud and Shiva Nandan.

The one-minute-36-second-long teaser shows three jobless friends drinking and smoking in a village in Telangana. However, after falling in love they try to change their lifestyle.

Veeram (Kannada)

Anand Audio released the trailer of its upcoming Kannada-language action film Veeram. Written and directed by Khadar Kumar S, the film stars Prajwal Devaraj, Rachita Ram, Srinagar Kitty and Shishya Deepak.

The two-minute-36-second-long trailer introduces us to a world in which criminals roam free and wreak havoc. A rowdy hero (Devaraj) comes to the rescue of society. We also see a glimpse of his love story with Rachita Ram. The trailer shows glimpses of action sequences.

Kolaambi (Malayalam)

The makers of the Malayalam-language film Kolaambi recently released its trailer. Directed by T.K. Rajeevkumar, the film stars Nithya Menen, Renji Panicker, Rohini Mollatti, Dileesh Pothan and Vijay Yesudas in the lead roles.

The three-minute-51-second-long trailer promises a musical about “love, harmony and partition”. The trailer takes us to the world of old records, mics and music and charts a social satire set in modern times. The music for the film is composed by Ramesh Narayan.
