Piku director Shoojit Sircar’s next film is an Abhishek Bachchan-starrer that revolves around the changing dynamics of a father-daughter relationship, production house Rising Sun Films announced on Thursday.
“Shoojit Sircar’s next is a heartwarming tale about ‘celebration of life’ in its everyday ordinary chaos,” the production company wrote on Instagram alongside a highlight reel of the 57-year-old director’s films spanning from 2005 to 2021.
Showcasing scenes from Shoojit’s films like Vicky Donor, Madras Cafe, Piku, Pink and October set to the soundtrack of the Amitabh Bachchan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Piku, the banner added that the upcoming movie is an “emotional journey” with an “entertaining narrative”.
“It is an emotional journey with an entertaining narrative about a father and daughter who rekindle their precious bond while they navigate through life’s challenges,” they wrote.
Heaping praise on the filmmaker’s works, they talked about how his films carry a “cherished collection of moments that remind us to laugh, cry, fall in love and express all that’s within”. About the upcoming film, they mentioned, “His next compels us to discover the true value of life’s fleeting moments, learning to cherish each one.”
A few scenes from the film have been teased at the end of the reel. It shows a cityscape of a foreign country with red double-decker buses driving past people in a hurry to reach their place of work. A sunglasses-sporting Abhishek Bachchan makes an appearance as he walks on the road while talking on the phone. It ends with a distant shot of a father and a daughter sitting on a bench by a lake.
Also starring Johnny Lever, Ahilya Bamroo and Jayant Kriplani, the film is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. The title and release date of the film have been kept under wraps.
