Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson’s world goes topsy-turvy when his best friend Grover turns out to be a satyr and the teenager has to enrol in a camp meant for Greek demigods in the teaser of upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Dropped on Friday, the 34-second-long teaser begins with the voice of Virginia Kull, who plays Percy’s mother, confirming the existence of the Greek gods and demigods known as half-bloods. We see a nervous Percy, played by Walker Scobel, in an elevator and also get introduced to his friends Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri). Greek war god Ares and gorgon Medusa also make a brief appearance in the video clip, which ends with Chiron, a centaur in charge of a camp for half-bloods, welcoming Percy into Camp Half-Blood.

Based on a series of fantasy novels by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians tells the adventures of teenage demigod Percy Jackson and his friends at a training facility that aims to hone their special powers.

The teaser promises a faithful adaptation of the Percy Jackson novels as the first two episodes have been co-written by Rick Riordan himself. The Disney+ show is run by Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz, with James Bobin directing the first two episodes.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is slated to premiere on December 20 on Disney+.
