Upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series Percy Jackson and the Olympian Season 1, an adaptation of a novel of the same name, has wrapped shoot, show maker Rick Riordan announced on Friday via an Instagram post.

“That's a wrap, folks! Ice sculpture at lunch today. Months and months of post production still to do, but principle (principal) photography is done for PJOTV season one,” Riordan wrote alongside a photo of a pegasus ice-sculpture.

Helmed by Riordan —who also wrote the novel series— along with television producer Jonathan E. Steinberg, the show is likely to premiere in 2024.

Led by The Adam Project star Walker Scobell in the role of the demigod Percy Jackson, the series also stars Leah Jeffries in the role of Annabeth Chase. Aryan Simhadri plays the role of the satyr, Grover Underwood, in the show.

The first season is based on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Riordan’s first book from the novel series. The story follows a 12-year-old Percy coming to terms with his demigod status as he goes on a mission to save his mother and find Zeus’ lightning bolt that he has been falsely accused of stealing.

The primary shoot for Season 1 began on June 2 last year with a number of casting announcements. Big Little Lies star Virginia Kul plays Percy’s mother Sally in the show. Glynn Turman is set to play Chiron, the centaur activities director of Camp Half-Blood. Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Jason Mantzoukas has been cast in the role of the wine god Dionysus while Meghan Mullally of Will and Grace fame will be playing Hades’ servant Alecto. Tim Sharpp will play Percy’s abusive step-father Gabe Ugliano. Dior Good Jon and Charlie Bushnell have been cast as Clarisse La Rue and Luke Castellan, respectively.

American playwright and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to essay the role of Hermes —the Greek God of travelers, messengers, gamblers, merchants and thieves. Jay Duplass has been cast as Hades, the Greek God of dead and the King of the Underworld. Timothy Omundson, who played the role of Cain in Supernatural, will be playing the role of Hephaestus, the God of fire and blacksmiths. The roles of Zeus and Poseidon are being played by Lance Reddick and Toby Stephens, respectively.

Disney+ unveiled the first Percy Jackson teaser trailer at the Disney Expo in 2022, with Walker Scobell walking across Camp Half-Blood saying some of Percy’s most famous lines from the first book.
