Kapadia’s Malayalam-Hindi drama beat Mohammad Rasoulof’s The Seed Of The Sacred Fig to bag the top honour at LAFCA. Rasoulof, however, was named the best director by the LAFCA, beating Sean Baker, whose directorial Anora was voted the best film of the year.

Winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes 2024, All We Imagine as Light also won best international feature at the Gotham Awards 2024 and the New York Film Critics Circle last week. Additionally, Sight and Sound magazine named it the best film of the year. The film earlier received the Jury Grand Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) 2024.

Released in Indian theatres on November 22, All We Imagine as Light stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha and Chhaya Kadam. It examines themes of love, longing, and loneliness through the lives of three women in Mumbai. All We Imagine as Light lost to Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies as India’s official entry for the 97th Academy Awards.
