Paul Rudd’s Elliot and his daughter Ridley, played by Jenna Ortega, accidentally hit a unicorn with their car while travelling to a weekend retreat, leading to a series of interesting events in the trailer of horror-comedy film Death Of A Unicorn.
Dropped by A24 on Wednesday, the two-minute-17-second-long trailer begins with a scene in which Rudd and Ortega’s characters step out of the car to find out what they have hit with their car. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend at the retreat turns out to be a nightmare for the father-daughter duo.
As they arrive at the venue, they are wrought with panic and anxiety as they go to great lengths to hide their crime. Suddenly, their car begins to move, which alerts everyone at the retreat. The unicorn’s horn pierces through the roof of the car, leaving everyone shocked. Soon, Rudd’s boss, played by Will Poulter, begins to experiment on the creature’s body, eventually realising that they can use its blood to cure cancer.
Death of a Unicorn is directed by Alex Scharfman, who is making his directorial debut after having previously served as a producer on Blow the Man Down and Resurrection.
Ari Aster will serve as the executive producer of the film, while John Carpenter will compose the soundtrack alongside his son Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.
Death of a Unicorn is slated to hit theaters in 2025.
