Actress Parineeti Chopra has been dropping behind-the -scenes pictures from the sets of Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role. On Tuesday, the actress dropped fresh photos featuring herself and Diljit during the shoot of the biopic, which is now available to stream on Netflix. Here’s a look.
The Imtiaz Ali directorial, which premiered on Netflix on April 12, traces Punjabi pop singer Amar Singh Chamkila's meteoric rise to fame and his murder. Parineeti Chopra, who plays Chamkila’s wife and singing partner Amarjot Kaur in the film, is seen rehearsing her lines on the sets of the biopic.
With her face smeared in fake blood, Parineeti is seen winking at the camera in a photo that was likely captured during the filming of Chamkila’s death scene. The singer, along with his wife and two bandmates, was fatally shot before a performance. The assassination remains unresolved to this day.
Parineeti shared a candid photo with her co-star Diljit Dosanjh on stage. The storyline of Amar Singh Chamkila illustrates how a young boy of humble origins went on to become one of the most popular folk singers of Punjab.
Clad in a rust-hued co-ord set, Parineeti posed in front of a gurdwara.
Another picture shows the Saina actress in a contemplative mood, sitting in front of a gurdwara with her head covered.
Parineeti recently took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the love she has received as Amarjot. “Overwhelmed with your words, calls, and movie reviews (tears are not stopping). 'PARINEETI IS BACK.' These words are ringing loud. I hadn’t thought of this. Yes, I am back and not going anywhere,” she wrote.
“Shoutout to my glam team, for making me Chamkila (shine) as Amarjot, for all the beautiful moments at Gurudwaras, and for capturing Amarjot throughout the film in these stills,” Parineeti signed off.
