After the success of the supernatural thriller Nikosh Chhaya, director Parambrata Chattopadhyay has teamed up with actor Anirban Bhattacharya for his next Hoichoi series titled Bhog. Adapted from a story by Avik Sarkar, Bhog follows a reclusive bachelor who becomes captivated by an enigmatic brass statue from a curio shop. His life spirals into a chilling nightmare as he succumbs to its sinister influence, blurring the lines between devotion and madness. Bhog, also starring Rajatava Dutta, explores a dangerous descent into an eerie obsession fuelled by supernatural forces.
“I selected this story for its mass appeal. Also, it’s one of the best supernatural stories to have come out of Bengal in recent times. The story has certain layers which I want to explore. The story also has certain mythological elements as well. Probably a little less than Nikosh Chhaya, but it does have that,” said director Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
Talking about the reason behind casting Anirban in the lead, Parambrata said: “I’ve been wanting to work with Anirban for quite some time. Besides being great friends for the last four-five years, I think he’s one of the finest actors, so I’ve been waiting for an ideal opportunity like this to work with him.”
“With Bhog, we’re excited to expand the scope of our storytelling by bringing a fan-favourite story to life on screen for the first time. This adaptation is a testament to Hoichoi’s commitment to delivering unique, high-impact content,” said Soumya Mukherjee, COO, Hoichoi.
