Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Anirban Bhattacharya are set to collaborate on a new project, but with a twist. For the first time, Parambrata will direct Anirban in a web series Bhog, being produced by Hoichoi. Rajatava Dutta will also be a part of the series.
Riding on the success of his supernatural thriller series Nikosh Chhaya, streaming on Hoichoi, Parambrata is once again delving into the world of the uncanny. Bhog is a thriller based on a story penned by writer Avik Sarkar.
It is about the harrowing experience of a reclusive bachelor who becomes captivated by an enigmatic brass statue bought from a curio shop. His life spirals into a nightmare as he succumbs to its sinister influence, blurring the lines between devotion and madness.
Anirban, who has acted in and creative-directed the upcoming Hoichoi series Talmar Romeo Juliet, said: “Partnering with Paramda for Bhog is something I’m really looking forward to. Though we’re yet to begin shooting, his creative insights promise to add an intriguing layer to this mythological thriller. It’s an exciting new journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.”
In the promotional image for Bhog, Parambrata and Anirban are seen dressed in matching black suits. The photo hints at the dark and intense theme of the series, with Parambrata holding a book titled Bhogilal and Anirban sporting a stylish hat.
Parambrata’s previous series Nikosh Chhaya, which centred around the enigmatic figure of Niren Bhaduri (played by Chiranjeet Chakrabarti), was widely acclaimed by audiences.
The short story Bhog was turned into an audiobook, and was also adapted into a feature film by director Raajhorshee De, titled Purba Paschim Dakshin Uttar Asbei.
