Parambrata Chattopadhyay is all set to send a shiver down our spine with his OTT directorial debut, Parnashavarir Shaap, on Hoichoi. The seven-episode horror thriller series is an adaptation of the eponymous story from Souvik Chakraborty’s Niren Bhaduri Samagra.
The story revolves around a group of four friends — Amiya (Gaurav Charabarty), Mitul (Surangana Bandyopadhyay), Pallab (Arna Mukhopadhyay) and Titas (Anindita Bose) — who go on a holiday to Chamakpur where they encounter a chain of eerie occurrences.
“I am so happy that Souvik entrusted me with this story since it was unnerving even to read it. We had a big responsibility to bring on screen the cinematic impact it deserves. The goal is to either keep people glued to their screens or have them lose some days of sleep after watching the show,” said Parambrata, who has chosen this story to make his web debut as a director.
The key figure in the Parnashavarir Shaap plot is Niren Bhaduri aka Bhaduri Moshai, a former CBI officer who likes to solve mysterious cases after his retirement.
During their stay in Chamakpur, Mitul starts to behave strangely, hinting at the presence of a malevolent force in the house. The rest of the group seeks out Niren Bhaduri — played by Chiranjeet Chakrabarti — who is also knowledgeable in occult practices to help resolve the mystery and get their friend back.
“The idea of bringing Bhaduri Moshai to life was challenging and also exciting. The story has huge potential. I am glad Param took this up and I could be a part of this show which, if successful, can become a franchise for Hoichoi,” said Chiranjeet.
Parnashavarir Shaap will stream on Hoichoi from November 10.
