Playback singer Papon is set to make his debut as a film music composer with Biswajeet Bora-helmed Assamese movie Sati Sadhani. Sharing the news on Instagram on April 22, the Assamese singer recently wrote, “I am thrilled to announce my first film as a music composer. Creating the entire score for Sati Sadhani has been a fantastic experience. For me, music is about evoking emotions and making listeners fall in love with it. I am very excited for the audience to hear the music into which we have put a lot of research in order to bring the flavor of the land to the world.”
The announcement was made on the occasion of Birangana Sati Sadhana Divas, a significant day in Assam’s history, which commemorates the death anniversary of the 16th-century Chutia dynasty queen Birangana Sati Sadhani.
Set in Assam, the film is a dramatic depiction of the life story of Sati Sadhani and will release in both Hindi and Assamese languages.
The singer, best known for songs Moh moh ke dhaaga and Jiyein kyun, recently sang in Vikramaditya Motwane-directed Prime Video web series Jubilee, which stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti Khurana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sidhant Gupta and Ram Kapoor.
